Nucs for Sale – 2012

If you’re thinking about getting into the great hobby of beekeeping next Spring, now is the time to put your order in for a nucleus of bees (also called a Nuc). Every Spring, experienced beekeepers in central Virginia identify their hardiest stock of local bees. They use them to create these so-called nucleus hives to sell to new or experienced beekeepers for starting new hives. Nuc’s always are in high demand, so it is wise to get on a seller’s list soon if you want one. Getting on the list in October or November of the year before is definitely NOT too early. Nuc’s always sell out, so do not delay.

The following members of the East Richmond Beekeepers Association have indicated that they will be creating Nuc’s in the Spring of 2012. They are listed in alphabetical order below:

Any advice on where I can get package bees near Richmond ( west end)? Appreciate it. K

To my knowledge, no one in Virginia sells packages. Most packages are sold from Tx, Fl or Ga. I am not familiar enough with the producers to feel comfortable recommending one over the other.

Virginia Bee Supply around culpeper has packages.
