Unless otherwise noted (for example, we usually have an offsite members picnic in July), the East Richmond Beekeepers Association meets from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM on the second Tuesday of each month. Our meetings take place at Fort Lee Baptist Church ( at the corner Laburnum Avenue & Charles City Road.) Visitors are always welcome.
Address:
2727 Charles City Road
Richmond, Va 23231
DIRECTIONS to Fort Lee Baptist Church:
COMING on I-64 east, you can exit on Exit 195 (do not confuse with the motorway of that number) onto the Laburnum Avenue heading southeast away from Richmond, follow Laburnum Avenue past Williamsburg Road and another light, and then left onto Charles City Road, and then right into the church parking lot.
Alternatively, Coming from I-295 or from I-64, you can exit towards Highland Springs/Sandston and the airport, and you will be on Airport Drive. Then turn right (west) onto Williamsburg Road (Route 60), follow it to the stoplight at Laburnum Avenue. Turn left onto Laburnum Avenue. The 2nd light will be Charles City Road. Turn left. The church is on the corner. Turn right into the parking lot.
Meeting room entrance is adjacent to the parking lot.
Those not using the expressways and coming from points east and west can follow Williamsburg Road (60) to Laburnum Avenue and use the directions above.

I would like to attend your meeting on August 11. Is it open to the public?
Thank you!
Visitors are always welcome!

I am looking to buy, build, trade, or any way I can to get two standard Hives. I am a Master Parachute Rigger with industrial sewing machines, I can repair any netting, Fabric to include replace Boat tops, Awnings, Bee suits( let out or take up), I can also help you in any project you may need help with. I am very happy with the people I met at the last meeting and am looking forward to working with all of you in the future.
So glad to discover that there’s a beekeeping organization closer to home than Ginter Park. Is the next meeting on May 8?
In the meanwhile, I am in need of a frame of brood, some uncapped, to requeen my colony. I have lots of bees and many frames of honey, but no brood or queen in sight. I fear introducing a new queen, in case some workers have started to lay. I understand introducing a frame of brood would allow the hive to raise its own queen without trouble.
Hey Rick,
Yes, the next meeting is May 8.
I’ll post your query to the Richmond Beekeeping Email Group to see if anyone has something. You should join that group so that you will see any responses.
Thanks!
